Emile Midgley: Don't overlook the 720, which was essentially a smaller version of the 707. 4 engine, intercontinental. My guess is the 797 will be an eventual replacement for the 737. I think Boeing will run out of numbers long before they run out if ideas.
Karie Mavle: Blowing has used 7s or +-7 or =7 in its designation for a long time .....it shall be interesting to see if they are still in businesshttp://www.aerospaceweb.org/question/planes/q0134....
Kim Gerbino: Boeing's next aircraft will be a replacement to the 73. That has been a hugely successful aircraft and it would make sense to build a more fuel efficient airliner that possesses the same capabilities as the 73.
Daria Verfaillie: I think 808, 818 ....Happy new year!!JL.
Jonathon Labonne: As competitive as Boeing are, they might just go with 300, 310, 320, 330,340,380..........The 797 will almost certainly be a totally redesigned short to medium range airliner to replace the current 73! 7NG's. It will benefit from the 787 greatly, in its use of composite materials. I wonder how airbus will respond? Good question! Its nice to get a brake of answering the many repetative questions here....Show more
Wilbur Marksberry: go out of business
Donita Desjardin: The rumors going round are a All composite, think 787, replacement for the 737.Because our 1st Really successful Airliner was the 707. So we've kept that Series of numbers more for Luck, and Product Branding then anything. I would Imagine that somewhere inside this company some Marketing Ad Agency is getting Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars to determine what Number we should use after the 797....Show more
Hipolito Rightmire: As I understand it the "7" in the Boeing planes was made up.
Michal Semple: Yes it is true...a fleet of them has already been built by another aircraft company, but they have been costly, behind schedule in building them, and not very profitable, which has delayed ! their building, but Boeing will "jump onboard" soon...
V! irgil Loatman: 807,817,etc.
Robt Betker: 2707.I think maybe Boeing answered that question thirty years ago when they were designing the American SST. They called it the 2707. I believe after the 797 that is the way they will go. It would designate a new era of air travel in the twenty first century ( the 2000s) and at the same time pay homage to the 707 which ushered in the jet age of air travel....Show more
Hal Rouse: Convair had the 800 series and 900 series so i would guess they will got to 1000 series or some alpha numberic
Jonathan Schlussel: 909,919.!! lol
