Sharee Doak: Series 1 and 2 Tivos did not support HD. You don't want one of those.Newer Tivos will be able to record HD channels.If you don't need a cable box, you should just be able to connect the Cable TV cable to your Tivo and set it up.However, many cable companies have started to switch over to "Digital Cable". Despite the name, it's really just an excuse for them to start scrambling ALL channels. Yes, even your local channels. Azzie Trembly: yes u can record hd but u need too know a few things 1 u have too pay for hd service and also have too get a cable card for the tivo which u have too pay for plus if u want too wach on demand then u cant with tivo its cheaper and easier too get a dvr from the cable company and if your dvr malfuctions u just give them a call hope this he! lps!!!!!
Caleb Chapman: I bought a whole stack of VCR's at the thrift stores forless then $10. each. One I use every day for one show. I also have a TIVO I like for over the air recording.I bought it new and paid one year service then calledup and cancelled. When they ask why tell them its too expensive and wait a few months they will ask you for lifetime service for $99. Say OK. Gwenda Micheals: Newer HD model TIVos can record QAM channels, but only manually. If you want guide based recording, you need to rent a cablecard from your provider, which at least maps QAM channels to digital cable channel lineup numbering in the guide. The Series 2 models are analog only. To get digital cable channels with a Series 2, you need a cable box....Show more
