Everette Rovinsky: What you need to do is the following:1. List of all the hardware components that are not working.2. Install corresponding drivers: 2a.Go directly to the hardware manufacturers website, download and install drivers for all the drivers. OR 2b. Search for the name of hardware components and drivers on Google and see if the are some other websites like windrivers.com, etc. that allow you to download genuine hardware drivers. This could be the case if you have an old hardware -e.g. a DVD-ROM that was released in 2000 or before.3. Once the driver for a hardware is installed, check to see if the installation was successful. If the hardware is not working properly, there is usually a yellow "!" icon against the device in the Device Manager (To get to device manager, left click on "My Computer", click on "Manage" and then select "Device Manager"). If the hardware device driver installation is successful, you should not see the yellow colored "1" icon.4. Fo! llow steps 2& 3 for all the devices with improper device driver installation.5. Google this issue to check if there are any other users who experienced a similar problem when upgrading/freshly installing XP. This could be a treasure trove of information and may potentially solve your issue. If these steps don't work, please provide as much information as possible regarding your hardware configuration and the nature of the problem you are experiencing....Show more
Curt Broadhead: if the pc is a dell or something like that, it probably came with a "resource" cd. This disk has all of the chipset drivers and such. If it isn't, then you will need to find out what motherboard you are using and download the chipset drivers for it. These usually include ethernet, sound (like AC97, or some realtek thing) chipset drivers that control hardware (IDE, SATA controllers). Most motherboard manufacturers will release a 4-in-1 package that will have all of these included, just make ! sure you get all of them for your particular board. Then you wi! ll have to go to the nvidia site and download the newest drivers for 6000 series cards....Show more
